DPP software for used textiles that never carried a tag.

Every passport platform on the market distributes data a brand already holds about new, tagged products. None of them serves the material already in circulation. TexFile originates the record for those items from the documentation sewn into them, and projects it into the Digital Product Passport format.

The passport assumes data that was never recorded

ESPR, Regulation (EU) 2024/1781, entered into force on 18 July 2024. The central EU registry is live from 19 July 2026 and the delegated act that makes the passport binding for textiles is expected in 2027. A passport is per item, and for a garment made before any of this it describes data that nobody ever wrote down.

That is not a small residue. It is most of the material a sorting facility handles, most of the stock sitting in a returns warehouse, and every item a second hand or resale programme takes back. The passport format is ready for it. The data is not.

Fields are assembled against the EU Digital Product Passport data model from the first reading, so an export is a projection of the record rather than a migration into a new shape.
Confidence that travels with the value
Each field carries a calibrated confidence, so a passport built from the record can state how sure a value is instead of asserting every value equally.
Provenance under every claim
PROV-O links each field to the document and the reading that produced it, which is what makes a published passport answerable when somebody asks where a number came from.
Identifiers that resolve
GS1 identifiers with Digital Link resolution, so an item can be pointed at from outside our systems and reach the same record.
Validation before publication
SHACL shapes are checked before a record is sealed. A payload that does not conform is never emitted.

How it lands in an existing operation

Four steps from material to payload
  1. Read where the item is handled

    At the sorting line, the returns desk or the intake bench: wherever the garment is already in someone's hands, its labels are captured and read.

  2. Reconcile into a record

    Label text is normalized into controlled EU vocabularies and resolved into fields, each one scored and each one keeping its source.

  3. Decide the tiers

    A passport publishes some fields and restricts others. Provenance is what lets an operator decide which is which, per field, with a defensible reason.

  4. Emit and resolve

    The payload leaves as a passport, as custody events, or through the API, and the identifier resolves back to the record for anyone entitled to see it.

The two columns are not in competition. A brand side platform holds what the brand knows; this originates what nobody has recorded, and hands it over through the same open standards. The layer sits below them.

What is DPP software for used textiles?

Software that produces Digital Product Passport data for garments that carry no digital identifier. Yes, when the record behind it carries the score. Every field TexFile writes has a calibrated confidence and a link to the source document, so a passport can publish a value together with the basis for it instead of presenting every field as equally certain.

When does the textile passport become binding?

The ESPR registry is live from 19 July 2026, and the delegated act setting the textile requirements is expected in 2027. Records built to the passport data model now are what turn that date into an export rather than a project.
